Things will not return to the normal we once knew
Message from Mayor Al Miller
Our District of Invermere municipal office is now open to the public. We have modified our operations and office layout to maintain physical distancing for both staff and residents.
Please do not hesitate to contact our office with any questions or concerns that you may have. If you do not feel comfortable coming into the office, you can call the office for assistance and our staff will be happy to assist you.
Many other local businesses and establishments have also altered their operations to protect their staff as well as visitors. Our local businesses are quite eager to welcome you back and have been working extremely hard in doing so safely.
Please continue to support our local business and make sure to follow the posted guidelines and protocols for each business.
It will be a while before COVID-19 is behind us. The next few weeks will continue to look different and things will not return to the normal that we once knew. It is extremely encouraging that we are reopening our province and community; however, we must not forget that we are still in a State of Emergency.
It very is important to remember that every measure, recommendation, and guideline that has been put out, is for the well-being and safety of us all.
We are getting closer to launching the Community Ambassador program in the District of Invermere. These Community Ambassadors will be found in parks and open spaces and they will be there for positive reinforcement of the social distancing measures in place and general safety guidelines. We are still in the hiring process; applicants are encouraged to apply for this paid position by June 19. This program will be launching at the end of June and will continue through August.
For fear of repeating myself, everyone must keep the safety of the community a priority. Everyone needs to do their part by staying informed, being prepared and by following public health advice. Bring hand sanitizer if you plan on visiting a public facility and respect the space of others around you. Stay at home and away from others if you are feeling sick and avoid gathering in large groups.
Let’s continue to work together and support one another. Whether it be dealing with this pandemic, the colour of our skin or the colour of our licence plate… everyone deserves to be treated equally with respect and compassion. I am proud of our community and its members for continuing to be inclusive and keeping our community safe.
