Missing person found deceased
The body of a rafter missing since June 16 has been located, Columbia Valley RCMP reported today.
On Thursday, June 16, a solo rafter was reported missing on Bugaboo Creek.
Regional Search and Rescue (SAR) members located the raft during the initial search but swift water made it too dangerous to continue the search until water levels receded.
On Saturday, October 1, the water levels had receded enough for SAR to conduct a second search and sadly, the body of the missing person was recovered.
Family of the man have been notified.
“We would like to thank our volunteer search and rescue teams, Columbia Valley Search & Rescue, Golden SAR, Kimberly SAR and Glacier Helicopters for their efforts in the search.
BC Coroner Service has conduct of the investigation and no further information will be released at this time,” said Sgt. Darren Kakuno, Columbia Valley RCMP Detachment commander.
