Parks Canada reports Sinclair Canyon fire extinguished

UPDATE: Parks Canada reports the fire along the boundary of Kootenay National Park in Sinclair Canyon has been extinguished.

Thank you to the Radium Hot Springs Fire Department for working alongside Parks Canada fire crews to extinguish the fire.

The Sinclair Canyon trail has been reopened.  The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.

Parks Canada reports this afternoon that a fire crew is currently actioning a .01 hectare fire on the Kootenay National Park boundary in Sinclair Canyon.

The fire does not currently pose a risk to people or infrastructure. The fire, smoke and fire suppression activities may be visible from the Village of Radium Hot Springs, Parks Canada noted on social media.

“For your safety, please avoid the Sinclair Canyon trail until operations are complete.”

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

An update will be provided as new information is available.
