Repair work to begin on Toby Creek Road
Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting Ltd. today (Sept. 25) announced asphalt paving and road base repair for Toby Creek Road.
Work will proceed from Panorama Road eastward to the Hydro Substation Road.
“There are several areas of pavement that require new asphalt surface and road base repair. The proposed locations were marked with orange paint over the last several weeks and prioritized for repair,” Mainroad stated in an update.
“Therefore, the plan is to complete as much road base repairs and placement of new asphalt before the cold weather arrives. Areas not completed this 2020 year will be completed next spring 2021.”
The work will include: Removal of the old broken asphalt sections; Repair of the road base with new gravels, Placement of new 50mm thick asphalt at 54 spot location (approximately 6,600m2).
The work is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 28 to Friday, Oct. 30 (weather permitting). Hours of work: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Motorists will experience single lane alternating traffic and a slowdown of traffic in construction zones. Please drive with caution and watch for roadside crews.
