Stephanie Stevens thanked for decade on Area G APC

A Columbia Valley resident was recognized Feb. 17 for serving 10 years on the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) Electoral Area G Advisory Planning Committee (APC).

Area G Director Roberta Schnider thanked Stephanie Stevens “for your years of service to our communities, to the many volunteer boards you have served on and of course for the difference you have made in the lives of the people who live in the Columbia Valley and beyond in the RDEK service area.

“Through your service for 10 years as Gerry Wilkie’s alternate (director), you have been diligent, thoughtful and your ability to be inclusive, dynamic and compassionate has not gone unnoticed,” Schnider said, quoting recently retired long-time Area G director Wilkie who said Stevens is “one of the more empathetic persons I have met. Steph has made her mark as a writer, journalist, youth worker/facilitator extraordinaire, guest ranch manager and as the RDEK Alternate Director for Electoral Area G.

“With a good understanding of the social, economic, and environmental dynamics of the electoral areas and the valley in general, she has been a constructive member of the combined Electoral Area G and F Advisory Planning Committee for many years as well as a member of the ongoing Columbia Valley Recreation Planning Initiative Committee. I thank her for her friendly manner,  her knowledge of the issues and the thoughtful comment she has brought to many of our discussions over the years.”
