Cranbrook RCMP Report

The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) March 13 to 6 a.m., March 20.

Police handled 141 calls for service throughout this week.

Among the calls police handled…

Two impaired drivers – alcohol.

Two collisions – one in town and one outside of town. Minor damage and/or minor injury.

Two hit and runs – minor damage reported and both occurred in parking lots.

Eight Mental Health Act calls – one apprehended/ two assist hospital.

Six assault complaints: three domestic in nature with one person arrested in each incident; one assault unfounded; one assaulting a police officer in the cell block. In all these cases a person was arrested and is facing assault charges.

Seven thefts reported: three shoplifting; one theft of a motor vehicle reported but later investigated to be unfounded; two theft from motor vehicle – set of expensive chef knives/ loose change… doors unlocked; two other thefts: one over money/ dispute over payment and the other where a garage was rummaged through. One stolen vehicle from Calgary was recovered on Gold Creek Road.

One break and enter to residence: neighbour heard loud noises from vacant residence. Police attended and found nothing out of the ordinary.

Three reports of property damage: two complaints of reports of damage to vehicles/ other was report to property lighting.

One arson: turned out to be a controlled burn. Unfounded.

Three drug seizures: marijuana.

11 false alarms/ false 911 complaints.

Warning to the public that there has been an increase in thefts from vehicles. RCMP encouraging people to lock the doors to vehicles parked outside and secure your residences.
