30th Artisan Bazaar ready for Nov. 8

Over 30 East Kootenay Artisans will be displaying their homemade products for sale at the 30th annual Christmas Craft Bazaar on Saturday, November 8.

“We are very pleased with the positive response we had this year from “new-to-us” and former crafters,” said Canadian Federation of University Women Cranbrook Club (CFUW) Chair Cathryn Henley. “We have artists from every walk of life coming to our venue at the Cranbrook Golf Course from Creston to Invermere and Fernie, as well as Kimberley, Moyie and Cranbrook,” she added.

There will be unique wares and products for gift giving, for yourself or that someone special. Most artists are open to taking orders as well.

“I can think of only one crafter who takes credit cards, so it is important that shoppers bring cash. It is unlikely the ATM at the (Cranbrook Golf Course) clubhouse is still operational, as their golfing season officially ended Sunday, October 19,” said Henley.

Also featured at the Bazaar again this year will be freshly roasted Café Femenino from the award winning Shuswap Coffee Company.

“We brought in more gift packs this year that consist of three different half-pound bags in Christmas design and gift boxed,” said Henley. She added that the club also ordered a variety of ground and bean coffee in both decaf and regular.

“This is Fair Trade, Organic and Bird-Friendly coffee from farms owned by women in Peru, Mexico and Guatemala,” stated Henley. “We will be selling Café Femenino by the cup again this year as well for those who wish to try some before purchasing,” said Henley.

The entrance fee is still only a Toonie, which gives you an entry into the door prize draws. Each crafter donates a door prize and those will be featured in the hall connecting the main room to the Fox & Hound Room of the clubhouse. Draws will start at noon and continue throughout the day. “Chances of winning are good, with over 30 door prizes,” said Henley.

We would like to see as many people as possible to come out and support your area artisans. It is their renting of table space that gives us the funds to continue to do our work in the East Kootenay. With you supporting them, it allows them to support us. It is a win-win for all area residents.

This annual bazaar has been sponsored by the CFUW Cranbrook Club for 30 years. “We are open to any woman wishing to join the club to visit our website at www.cfuw-cranbrook.com to find out more about us.
