Ann and Jim Wavrecan 2018 Citizens of the Year

The Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce today revealed the 2018 Citizens of the Year as Jim and Ann Wavrecan.

Chamber president Wes Rogers dressed for today’s Turkey Drive announcement, which preceded the Citizen of the Year announcement.

“Ann has been a volunteer with the Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop since 2005.  Jim was a member of (Cranbrook) city council from 1989 to 2011 and chaired the Railroad Centennial Committee, the City Centennial Committee and was involved in the Cranbrook Celebration for Peace Society,” said chamber president Wes Rogers, dressing smartly in a bright yellow turkey/chicken suit.

“Ann and Jim have been chaperones with the Sweetheart Society for a number of years and are responsible for building, maintaining and travelling with the city float. Their willingness to take on projects in the spirit of making Cranbrook a better place to live is why they are deserving of this honour,” Rogers said.

The Citizen of the Year gala event will take place on the evening of Friday, January 25.
