April is Youth Month at Cranbrook Arts
Every April Cranbrook Arts celebrates the artistic talent of our young people.
This year we present an invitational exhibit for graduating Mount Baker Secondary School Grade 12 students. Cranbrook Arts has awarded a $500 scholarship to a Grade 12 graduating student for many years and this year will be no different. The recipient of this scholarship will be selected by Mt Baker staff but we would like to allow the public to have a glimpse of some of this wonderful artistic talent.
“I am so looking forward to seeing the talent from this area,” said Lynn Taylor, new gallery administrator.
Lynn, who hails from Muskoka, Ontario, shares the work at the gallery with our office administrator Louise Abbott and several volunteers.
We invite all Grade 12 students who would like to display their work at the Gallery, 1013 Baker Street to bring in one of their pieces ready to hang before March 30.
Sculpture, pottery or three-dimensional work will also be accepted but only one item per student please as we have very limited space. The Gallery will be closed for Good Friday March 30.
The pieces may be for sale or for display only. The work this year will not be adjudicated but we will ask the visiting public to vote for their favourite item so please drop by to see the work that has been contributed to this exhibit. The exhibit will be on display for the month of April.
