At the Library

By Mike Selby

Cranbrook Public Library

atl-nativeEric Jamieson examines the history of Canada’s first Aboriginal newspaper and its founder Maisie Hurley in his latest book ‘The Native Voice.’

When young Kai is abandon by his prehistoric tribe, he must survive a long winter with a lone wolf in Susan Williams Beckhorn’s ‘The Wolf’s Boy.’

Storytime is back! Preschool Story Time is Wednesday at 11 a.m,. 1:15 p.m., and 6:30 p.m., and Toddler Story Time is 10 and 11 a.m.

New this fall is Baby Laptime on Fridays at 1 p.m.  It will be starting on Friday, Sept 23.

This program is for babies who are not yet walking so a specific age is not really set—best approximation is under 1 year of age.  Since we do not have daycare for older siblings we ask that parents who have babies and children who are walking come to the toddler storytime instead of the baby laptime.

The much-anticipated Annual Fall Book Sale of the Friends of the Cranbrook Public Library and the Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club will be held at the Ktunaxa Gym for five days, Sept 28 to Oct. 2. The first day (Wednesday, Sept. 28) is for members only and a $10 membership to the Friends can be purchased at the door. Members also receive a 10% discount at this sale, every day except Sunday.  Please show your membership card to the cashier.

Hours have been reduced due to lower volunteer numbers. Doors open daily at noon and close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

FallBookSaleThe last day of the sale, Sunday Oct. 2, is the very popular BAG SALE.   Bring in your Friends/Library bag and fill it for $5 or pay $10, receive your Friends/Library bag and fill it up. No other book bags may be used for this sale.  Sunday times are 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. There are great reads at great prices!
