Business owners seek to provide Christmas Blessings
Seeking community support in the form of monetary sponsorships and donations to online auctions.
Candace Stanley, owner of Beautiful Moments, a Cranbrook business, is working to provide a Christmas blessing to children and their families in the community.
“As a business we have asked our community to #BeLocal to support us especially this year, so we are trying to give back to local community by hosting this online event. As this is our first year, we are focusing on providing the Christmas blessing to Cranbrook children. If this event goes beyond our goal, then we can reach out and provide a Christmas Blessing to more of the Kootenays,” Stanley said.
“The Christmas Blessing is a Christmas tote bag filled with clothes and toys to be opened on Christmas morning,” she explained. “This will brighten a child’s Christmas while taking some stress off of the parent. We do the shopping, wrapping, and delivering.
“We are working with The Choice Shop, Bumble Tree, and Pages Book Emporium to make this possible.”
There are two ways they are asking locals to help in this Christmas Blessing event.
1) Sponsor a child – They will be accepting monetary sponsorships. Every $75 sponsorship will completely fill a Christmas Tote Bag.
2) Online auction – They will hold an online auction via the Facebook Group Kootenay Fundraiser.
One hundred per cent of all sponsorships and online auction bid wins will be spent on the Christmas Blessing tote bags for local children.
“Our goal is to provide 100 children in our area with a brighter Christmas which will also provide their family with a little less stress too in this unimaginable year. Please help us be local – local businesses helping local children sponsored by local families,” Stanley said.
Two online auctions will take place Nov 5 – 8 and Nov 12 – 15.
Organizers are requesting items to be donated to the online auction. They are also gathering a list of kids for this Christmas Blessing.
