Celebrating love, belonging and community at Key City
Faces of Pride: Family Edition
Key City Theatre will host the opening celebration of Faces of Pride: Family Edition on June 11, inviting the community to gather for a free gallery opening and Pride Party in celebration of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
The annual Faces of Pride exhibition features unique portraits by local artist and photographer Brian Clarkson.
This year’s theme, Family Edition, shines a light on the many ways family is created, chosen, shared, and cherished. Some of the featured families include more than 30 people, reflecting the wide and beautiful spectrum of connection, care, and belonging within the community.
The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. at Key City Theatre with a gallery reception and Pride Party. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the models, connect with Brian Clarkson, enjoy snacks and entertainment, and celebrate the people and stories featured in this year’s portraits.
Faces of Pride has become a meaningful community tradition, creating space for visibility, celebration, and connection. Through Clarkson’s portraits, the exhibition offers an intimate and joyful look at local 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, families, allies, and loved ones, reminding viewers that family is not defined by one shape, one story, or one path.
“This year’s theme is especially powerful because it celebrates the people who make us feel safe, loved, and seen,” said Galen Olstead, Key City Theatre’s Executive Director. “Whether family means the people we were born to, the people we choose, or the community that surrounds us, Faces of Pride: Family Edition is a celebration of belonging.”
The gallery opening and Pride Party are free to attend, and everyone is welcome. The event is an opportunity to celebrate Pride, honour local families, and help create safe, inclusive spaces for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Cranbrook and the surrounding region.
