Christmas Blessing In the Kootenays returns

Organizers are excited to announce that Christmas Blessing In the Kootenays is returning this year.

Christmas Blessing In the Kootenays started last year by a group of Cranbrook business owners as a way to give back to the local community as a thank you for the #BeLocal support during the pandemic year.

“After the positive response and seeing the need in our community, we have decided to host this event once again to bring some joy, hope, and love into our community and to the lives of local children,” said Candace Stanley of Beautiful Moments.

“Last year, the community came together and gifted 100 local children from ages 16 months to 18 years.  We are hoping we can meet the 100 number again this year. Everyone’s financial story is different in what they can give, so we have different options for you to help us raise enough funds for 100 sponsorships,” she explained.

One hundred per cent of all sponsorships, winning bids, and monetary donations will be spent on the Christmas blessing tote bags for local children.

“We were not sure if we would do this again this year. We were not sure where businesses are financially or if the #Belocal attitude would still feel needed.  However, after sending the applications out, we are seeing that this is going to be needed more this year for the kids than last year as we are receiving a larger number of applications from all of the schools,” said Stanley.

“This tells us that there are more families in need this year than last year.  We just hope we can receive enough funds from the local businesses and individuals to meet the goal of 100 local kids again this year.

“Also, we sent out applications to Pinewood, Amy Woodland, Steeples, Gordan Terrace, Kootenay Orchard, TM Roberts, Highlands, St. Mary’s, KCA, Parkland, Laurie, Mount Baker, KES, and Aqamnik schools as well as all the churches, Cranbrook Food Bank, and Salvation Army.  Last year, we received applications from schools, churches, and the public after sending it out to the same organizations listed,” Stanley reported.

“We hope you will be inspired to be local and help us make this happen. We do the shopping (at cost from Beautiful Moments, The Choice, and Pages Book Emporium, so we get more for your money), wrapping, and delivering for you.

“Our goal is to provide 100 children in our area with a brighter Christmas which will also provide for their family.  We hope this will bring some much-needed joy, hope, and love to our community.”
