Council authorizes $276k for Spruce Ridge project
City of Cranbrook council authorized at its last meeting the commitment of $276,000 plus GST from the 2027 Capital Roads, Water and Sewer Programs to fund the road, water, sanitary and storm sewer oversizing for the Spruce Ridge development.
New Dawn Developments is completing a 48 dwelling unit development at 101, 105, 109, and 113-10th Street South. The developer is required to complete road, storm, water and sewer works for the development. These works will be owned by the city.
Some of the offsite works would be subject to “oversizing” or eligible for latecomer agreements, depending on city budget as per City of Cranbrook Policy No. 65-02 Latecomer Agreements and Oversizing Policy.
Typically and historically the city would pay oversizing for these types of works and recoup the costs where possible.
In addition to the above, city staff will bring forward a request for decision for council, in the future, to fund the construction of 1st Avenue south to 11th Street South for approximately $188,000 once private property issues are resolved.
