Cranbrook Arts exhibits return in October

Cranbrook Arts is starting up exhibits in its store front on Baker Street again.

Their first exhibit will be in October featuring Laura Leeder and her exhibit is called ‘Garden Delights.’

“Her work is so bright, cheerful and playful” said one customer of Laura Leeders’ work.

Laura started painting in watercolour 20 years ago.  Since then, she haexperimented and explored many techniques and methods always seeking to enhance her skills and artistic experience and to create a more joyful connection between the viewer and her work.

Laura’s collection of mixed media collage paintings on wood panels are a result of this exploration. She pours herself into each piece planting moments of joy for the viewer to discover between each intricate layer.

Gardens, birds, and surrounding landscape are created through collage and techniques reminiscent of art deco and stained glass. These stylized paintings sparkle with lighthearted and expressive celebrations of nature, and often include a touch of whimsy.

Laura Leeders work has been exhibited in Alberta, B.C., the US and can be found in private collections throughout Canada, the US, the UK, France and Japan.  It has also been featured in US TeaTime magazines and in various online business blogs, including feature articles in local Kootenay newspapers.

This August she opened up her Garden Studio in Creston to the public through the Columbia Basin Culture Tour and the Cross-Country Seeing Artist Studio Tour, of which she is a member.

Garden Delights will be featured at 1013 Baker Street from October 6-31. Cranbrook Arts hours are 10-2 Thursday- Saturday.
