Cranbrook Arts offering workshops in June

Cranbrook Arts is looking forward to hosting two wonderful workshops in June.

The first workshop is a Plein Air Workshop on June 7-8 at the picturesque Elizabeth Lake Bird Sanctuary with Lynne Grillmair.

Lynne, who after being an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists for six years, received Associate Signature status (AFCA). In 2018, she received ACFA Gold status. She has been painting full time since 1996 and has shown in many galleries including Gallery Odin at Silver Star, Eclectic Gallery in Victoria, the Banff Centre in Banff AB, and many others.

Lynne will be sharing her knowledge of en plein air style of painting (pictured), which means “in the open air,” to explore the spontaneous and fresh form of painting that takes place outdoors amid the scenery that you are painting.

This class is for all levels of painters and Lynne will be going over the materials that she uses while out in the field. Class size is limited so registration is expected to fill fast!

The second workshop is another one by Rebecca Bornhauser, Taking the Intimidation Out of Watercolours Level 2.

Rebecca will be diving in deeper into the watercolour medium to take her students to the next level.

The Level 1 was jam packed full of information about the tools of this challenging medium and this class will be applying that knowledge further. There will be a light refresher of the materials, but the focus will be on how to paint water, rocks, mountains, trees and skyscapes.

The class will on June 22 at the Manual Training Centre from 9 a.m. -4 p.m.

For the cost and to register for these classes at Cranbrook Arts 1012 Baker Street.
