Cranbrook constable recognized for creativity

Cst. Katie Forgeron

Cst. Katie Forgeron, Media Relations Officer for Cranbrook RCMP, was the recipient of a Communications Services Award 2016. The award entitled, “Creativity in Digital Communications in Support of Community Engagement” was presented to her at a RCMP Media Relations Conference held in March.

The award was in recognition for her creativity in warning travellers about the dangers of leaving well-traveled roads.

The release written in poem form mirrored, ‘Twas the Night before Christmas’ and was entitled ‘Twas Three Nights before Christmas.’ The story revolves around some travellers who ended up lost on a Forest Service Road as a result of GPS information. The release was well crafted and received significant media attention throughout the province. The release also highlighted the RCMP’s success in finding the family.

“Being the voice of the Cranbrook RCMP can be challenging and we truly appreciate Cst. Forgeron’s work in building trust and keeping the public informed,” stated S/Sgt Hector Lee, Cranbrook Detachment Commander.
