Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) August 6 to 6 a.m., August 13.
Police handled 187 calls for service throughout this week.
Among the calls police handled…
Two impaired driving: (alcohol).
Two collisions in the city: A truck and trailer hit a gas pump at the Shell Station; a family dispute resulted in pedestrian accident.
Three collisions outside the city: A vehicle went off road; no life threatening injuries reported and driver had too many passengers. A driver was issued multiple violation tickets when a vehicle struck a rock face and driver suffered non-life threatening injuries. Police suspect driver was impaired by alcohol and the matter still under investigation. A vehicle struck deer; property damage only.
23 driving complaints: six in the city and 17 outside the city.
One hit and run: A vehicle hit a parking meter in front of the courthouse and departed.
11 assaults: Four domestic assaults; confrontation between tenant and maintenance worker resulted in arrest and assault charge on tenant; two family disputes, no charges; a bar fight where a male struck a female; male assaulted by parties known to him; physical altercation between co workers; assault on prisoner by another prisoner, charge recommended. No one was seriously injured if at all in any of these events.
13 Mental Health Act related calls.
Eight thefts.
Two shoplifting.
One theft of auto: It was reported that it occurred some time ago.
Two thefts from auto: A passenger window was smashed out and wallet stolen, still under investigation; three suspects attempted to get into a vehicle, damaging it.
Three thefts other: A key for a vehicle was stolen; unfounded report of cash being stolen; phone stolen and smashed by unknown culprit.
Two break and enters to a business: Suspects entered a chained yard in the industrial area, attempted to get into an office, nothing stolen; B&E to local liquor establishment where Samsun tablet stolen.
One break and enter other: Attempted B&E to shed; nothing stolen as owner interrupted the suspect.
Six damage to property: A small ding on vehicle door; youth burning a liquid, possibly gasoline, no damage and no threat to any property; holes drilled into to two vehicle gas tanks – occurred around the same area of Tamarack Mall and old Canadian Tire parking lot; mischief complaint unfounded; shopping cart was run into a vehicle but unknown if it was an accident or intentional.
Three drug seizures: marijuana.
28 false alarms and false 911 calls.
