Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls reported to Cranbrook RCMP for the period between 12 a.m. Dec. 10 to Dec. 16, at 12 p.m.
Calls for Service: 166
Three impaired driving: Three 90-Day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions – (Multiple Counter Attack Roadblocks conducted).
Five collisions in the city: All minor in nature and most related to weather conditions; one where a boom truck struck overhead wires.
Four collisions outside the city: All minor in nature and mostly due to weather conditions or animal strike.
12 driving complaints: 10 in the city and two outside the city.
Two hit and runs: One was to a fire hydrant where property damage resulted from water and vehicle not located. One where a vehicle clipped another vehicle while passing near Wardner.
Five assaults: One was an assault causing bodily harm from a home invasion; one attempted assault with a frying pan; one involving a pedestrian who was hit with a piece of bread thrown from a passing vehicle, no injury sustained (I don’t make this stuff up….); two domestic assaults (one minor fisticuffs at a nightclub).
Three thefts.
Four shoplifting: One was a theft of two rings from jewellery store where the investigation is still ongoing; and three other minor thefts.
Six thefts other: One theft of Christmas packages (previously reported); one theft of a chainsaw from a carport; one theft of tires from a utility trailer; one theft of meat from a freezer in carport (half of the meat was returned in the night to the property after reported to the media … guilty conscience?)
Four mischief to property: all minor in nature.
One drug seizure: Possession under new Cannabis Control Act.
22 false alarms and false 911 calls: (including seven from the same business).
