Cranbrook RCMP Report

The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) May 7 to 6 a.m., May 14.

Police handled 166 calls for service throughout this week.

Among the calls police handled…

Four impaired driving: (alcohol).

Five collisions in the city: Including a parking lot accident with light standard; vehicle hit neighbour’s vehicles backing out of a driveway; single vehicle accident resulting in charges related to impaired driving; two vehicle accident… all collisions resulted in either damage and/or minor injury.

Three collisions outside the city: Including vehicle hitting an elk on highway; vehicle went off road into ditch times two… one of which resulted in a 24-hour driving prohibition.

Four assaults:   One assault as a result of a dispute over walking dogs; fight between males on the strip; one assault between family members and one assault where suspect is known to victim.

Four Mental Health Act related calls: one assist East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Nine thefts.

Two shoplifting.

Two theft of auto: A theft of an ATV which was later unfounded; and a theft of a vehicle that is believed unfounded as the complainant is uncooperative with police.

Four theft other: Including theft of cheques from a residence; theft of empty milk crates from local eatery; theft of school computer by a student; and theft of a gym bag from Western Financial Place.

One theft bicycle: Theft of two Kona Mountain bikes (one orange and one powder blue) off the bike rack on the back of a vehicle parked at a local hotel. Bikes retailed at approximately $2,000 each.

One break and enter to business: theft of cash and liquor from Eagles Hall.

Two break and enter to residence: Both reports confirmed false by attending officers.

Two damage to property: Attempted damage to a vehicle; youths trying to get into abandoned building, located by police and parents came to pick them up, no damage noted.

Two drug seizures: cocaine and heroin.

21 false alarms and false 911 calls.
