Danielle Eaton leaving city council
The City of Cranbrook will have to conduct a by-election in the near future.
Second term city Councillor Danielle Eaton this afternoon announced she is resigning.
“A difficult decision, but one that I had to make for my own well being. I have made the decision to resign from Cranbrook city council and did so effective today,” Eaton stated on social media.
“I thank all those who have supported me both last term, the recent election, and this term so far. I had every intention of fulfilling my commitment and everything I campaigned on during the election. However, there have been continued events that have resulted in me feeling that maintaining a seat on council is not in my best interest,” she explained.
“This has not been a decision I take lightly. I will be reaching out to those who made campaign contributions, to offer an out of pocket refund.
“Cranbrook, please know that I have every intention of continuing to serve our amazing community. It will simply have to be in a different capacity. I will ask that you respect my decision, and I will not be making any further comments. I will also be asking one of my fellow councillors to take over my council meeting reports.
“Thank you for everything and all you do Cranbrook,” she concluded.
