Growing Healthy Kids Fair Oct. 17

On Wednesday, October 17, the Cranbrook Early Years Committee will be hosting a fair at the Tamarack Centre from 2-5 p.m.

The focus of the fair is to reach out to parents and caregivers of children from 0-6 years old, and provide them with information about kindergarten readiness, health and wellbeing and a glimpse of some of the programs available to them in Cranbrook.

This is the first year for the Growing Healthy Kids Fair. In previous years, the committee has hosted “Early Learning Fairs” at neighbourhood elementary schools in the spring in conjunction with the “Ready, Set, Learn” programs hosted by School District No. 5.

This year we chose a more central location, which is easily accessible for many families to attend. This gives parents and caregivers the opportunity to take advantage of the available programs for an entire year, which is especially important for preschool children getting ready to enter Kindergarten in the fall of next year.

A number of local organizations will be on hand to talk about their programs, and what is available to children from 0-6 years old, School District No. 5, and the Columbia Basin Trust for Literacy will be available to speak to kindergarten readiness and the two Strong Start programs that are offered in Cranbrook.

The Interior Health Dental Program will be on hand to talk about the importance of Dental health in children, and the Library will be there to introduce families to their Story Time programs available for families.

For more information about the organizations attending and the activities planned please check out our Facebook Event page.

We would like to thank School District No. 5, Success by 6 and the Tamarack Centre for their support of this fair.
