Iconic Cranbrook ducks killed in senseless act

Cranbrook RCMP is currently investigating after several ducks were run over near Joseph Creek in the parking lot of the Tamarack Centre last night.

On Monday night, around 8:30 p.m., the RCMP was called to the parking lot at the Tamarack Centre. The caller advised that a pickup truck, possibly a Ford or Chevy, was seen leaving the area in a rushed manner. On further inspection, the caller noted that several ducks had been run over and were deceased. Officers attended and removed the ducks from the area.

“Although they should be well on their way south for the winter, these ducks are a part of Cranbrook. People, young and old, enjoy seeing the ducks year round,” said Cst. Katie Forgeron.  “We are asking anyone who might have been involved, or might have heard anything about who might have done this, to please contact the Cranbrook office.”

Cranbrook Detachment is asking anyone who might have information about the death of the ducks to contact them at 250-489-3471.
