Local named WHL Rookie of the Year

Bowen Byram

Cranbrook’s Bowen Byram has been named the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Western Conference Rookie of the Year.

The WHL today announced the award winners for the 2017/18 season, with Vancouver Giants’ defender Byram among those named.

Originally selected third overall by the Giants in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft, Byram enjoyed a terrific first full season in the WHL, scoring six goals and 21 assists from the Giants’ blueline.
