Julia De Bruyne, born in Kimberley, has been selected to skate in the star-studded Stars on Ice Holiday show coming to Cranbrook’s Western Financial Place on December 20 at 4:30 p.m.

Julia started skating at age three, and her love of figure skating has only grown stronger with each passing year. Her hard work and dedication have made her a stand out in the Kootenays, where she earned back-to-back regional championship titles in 2024 and 2025.

In 2024, her creativity and expressive skating were recognized as she won the Coaches Junior Artistic Award.

Last season, Julia embraced a more competitive path, completing intensive summer training in Calgary, and stepping into events that brought athletes together from across B.C.

She welcomed the challenge, pushing her technical abilities, refining her artistry, and proving her readiness to compete at higher levels. Her coaches, Jessica Grajcyzk, and Daniela Hewison note her strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and the passion she brings to every practice lesson.

With her dedication, athletic range, and deep passion for figure skating, Julia continues to grow into an exciting young athlete to watch, one who’s commitment and love for the sports shine every time she steps on the ice.

She joins a glittering cast of Olympic, World, Canadian, U.S., Japanese and Russian champions for what promises to be the biggest professional figure skating event in the past two decades in the region.

Stars such as Piper Giles and Paul Poirier, Keegan Messing, Kaetlyn Osmond, Ekaterina Gordeeva, Roman Sadovsky, Japan’s Satoko Miyahara, Gracie Gold, Jeremy Abbott and more will be skating in the Stars on Ice Holiday tour at Western Financial Place on December 20.

Having one of our very own local skaters in the show, somewhere will truly help light up the holidays in style and help make it one very memorable afternoon and a great start to the holiday season.

Tickets for the show are on sale now online or in person at the Cranbrook Bucks Ticket Office.
