Thank you to the family of Gunner George Williams for joining us at our branch to help us honour and hang a tribute on our wall to George.

George’s family traveled from Elkford, Calgary and San Diego, California.

George was a Far East POW during WW2. He endured horrific conditions before being liberated. George eventually made his way to Kimberley where he worked, married and raised his family.

He became an important member of his community. He was a Royal Canadian Legion member and was involved with the Boy Scouts just to name a few.

George was known to say: “Every day after captivity is a day celebrated “

We would like to thank George for his service.
