Lunch fundraiser to benefit Salvation Army Soup Kitchen

The Cranbrook Salvation Army’s Soup Kitchen program continues to receive funds from the community.

In June, East Kootenay Community Credit Union (EKC) donated $500. EKC is now joining Denham Ford for their third annual ‘Our Hometown for Hunger’ event. Everyone is invited to stop by Denham Ford Cranbrook, Monday, August 14 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. for lunch. Bring your friends and enjoy an amazing food selection from five food vendors, live music from Idlewild, meet Kootenay ICE representatives and win raffle prizes.

Denham Ford and EKC will match donations up to $1,000. For example for every dollar donated (up to $1,000), The Salvation Army Soup Kitchen Fund will receive $3.

“Denham Ford has had huge success for the past two year,” said Steve Zsillei, Marketing Manager at Denham Ford Cranbrook. “We are so proud to be sponsoring Our Hometown for Hunger! This event is getting bigger and bigger every year. We have seen an increase with the amount of people coming out and the number of food vendors taking part. The event has raised over $4,000 in the last two years and we hope, with community support, we will raise over $3,000 this year!”

In 2004, EKC showed community leadership and commitment by being one of the first-ever funders with the Cranbrook and District Community Foundation, donating a $10,000 endowment to benefit the Salvation Army’s Soup Kitchen. Ten years later, EKC continued to demonstrate that commitment with a three-year gift of $9,000, reinforcing its dedication to the sustainable difference that can be made when community works together. To date, EKC with support from their members, has given over $20,000 to the CDCF – Salvation Army Soup Kitchen.

Denham Ford, CDCF and EKC challenge the community to invite your friends for lunch, August 14 at Denham Ford. For more information on the lunch contact Steve at Denham Ford.
