Mike Adams named Citizen of the Year
Mike Adams has been named the 2017 Cranbrook Citizen of the Year.
The announcement was made at the Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce’s Christmas luncheon earlier this afternoon.
Adams was moved by the recognition and the thunderous applause.
Mike was instrumental in establishing JCI Kootenay. He has been the President of the Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Sam Steele Society and served on the Board of the Cranbrook Society for Community Living for 10 years.
“He has greatly contributed on a number of community initiatives including Salvation Army Christmas Kettles, Miracle on Baker Street (pictured above), Kootenay Gran Fondo, Breast Cancer Dress for a Cause, Chamber Turkey Drive and many more,” said Chamber Board Chair and long time friend Chris Botterill.
“Mike works tirelessly behind the scenes. He doesn’t seek praise or recognition being content to be part of initiatives and efforts that benefit the lives of our citizens. He has been an exceptional citizen of Cranbrook for many years. He is a man with a great sense of community and uses his skills to build a better community.”
Mike Adams will be formally recognized and honoured at the Citizen of the Year banquet Saturday, January 27.
“It will be a great night celebrating our great citizens, and especially Mike, who make Cranbrook a fantastic community,” Botterill said.
Tickets available on the chamber website or by calling the chamber office at 250-426-5914.
