Quick turnaround should be questioned
Letter to the Editor
According to the fourth quarter (2024) report given last month by Cranbrook RCMP to city council things seem to have completely turned around for the Cranbrook Detachment since the last report given about three months ago.
At that time, it was an alarming report of just how bad the manpower situation was with our detachment. It went on to say that the operational effectiveness was down to somewhere around 50% and even mentioned that members had little time to do proactive policing and could basically only do emergency responses.
It is hard to believe that all these problems were fixed in such a short time, so I think it is important we get the true picture of the detachment’s health. I’m quite surprised that our city council has remained silent on this issue.
