RCMP seek dash cam video to aid fire investigation

Cranbrook RCMP is requesting dash cam footage from motorists to assist in the investigation into the fire that destroyed two buildings in the city.

On September 1, Cranbrook RCMP was called to assist Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services (CFES) for a structure fire in the 800-Block of Cranbrook St N. The former Royal Canadian Legion building was fully engulfed in flames. Both the Legion and the May May Restaurant were destroyed by the fire.

Cranbrook RCMP is asking for any video footage on September 1, between 1:30 and 2 p.m. from motorists driving on Cranbrook St N between 6th St N and Victoria Avenue.

“We are asking for assistance from the public to provide us with any dash cam or video footage within this time frame to help us with our investigation,” said Cst Katie Forgeron.
