Repeat champ in Elementary Schools Cycling Challenge

The results are in and there is a repeat champion for this year’s Cranbrook Elementary Schools Cycling Challenge.

Kootenay Orchards Elementary School finished on top again with a total number of bike rides for their students and staff of 378 trips.

This year’s challenge was a little different from the 2019 event due to COVID-19. Rather than a Bike to School only focus, all students and staff were asked to tally their total number of bike rides for the entire week (Sept. 28-Oct. 4), regardless of where and when they rode.

The GoByBike Cranbrook Week and the 2020 Bike to School Challenge were originally scheduled for the end of May but had to postpone to the Fall due to the pandemic.

Organizers hope that the Cranbrook Elementary Schools Cycling Challenge can safely return in spring 2021 when the young students can again vie for the cycling championship for their school.
