Rock of Ages High School Edition Nov. 24-27

Rock of Ages High School Edition is soon upon us!

If you were a teenager in the 1980s, or if you love ‘80s rock tunes, you will love Mount Baker Wild Theatre’s production of Rock of Ages High School Edition.

Set on LA’s Sunset Strip in the mid to late ‘80s (roughly), the show begins with a narrator, Lonny Barnett (sound God, played by Preston Gramm) who sets things up with a couple of familiar songs by David Lee Roth and Poison. Lonny introduces us to Sherrie (Jelena Jensen) and Drew (Jared Adams); two kids with dreams who come to LA to make them come true.

Meanwhile, back in the Mayor’s Office (mayor played by Cameron Sperling), Hilda Klinemann (Suzanne Coulter), flanked by her son Franz (Cedar Gross), deliver plans to demolish Sunset Strip in favour of a brand new strip mall. Incensed, the mayor’s assistant Anita Bath (Isabella Fiorentino) rallies a troop of protesters to fight the power and save the strip.

Also in the mix are rock star Stacee Jaxx (T.J. Moulton), Dennis Dupree (Alexander Gilmour), owner of the legendary Bourbon Room bar, and Justice Charlier (Maria Bolio), owner of the Venus Club, who takes Sherrie under her wing when things go wrong.

The show is backed by a live band: Kaley Wasylowich and Evan Bueckert on keyboards, Janice Nicli on bass, Chris Moon and David Phillippe on guitar, and Keon Chung on drums. Pb Pro-Audio will supply the lighting design. With songs from Steve Perry, Joan Jett, Pat Benetar, Whitesnake and Quiet Riot (just to name a few), this show is going to rock.
