A number of slash piles located adjacent to the Community Forest along Baker Mountain Road in Cranbrook are scheduled to be burned Thursday morning (Dec. 17).

BC Timber Sales has engaged local contractors to oversee these operations and have taken the initiative to notify Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services prior to the work beginning.

Residents may notice localized smoke while the piles are being burned but should not be alarmed as these are planned ignitions and are an important component of the fuel mitigation work happening around our community.
