Tom Shypitka launches campaign website

Tom Shypitka has officially launched his mayoral campaign website, tomshypitka.ca, providing residents with a central hub to learn more about his vision for Cranbrook ahead of the upcoming municipal election.

Shypitka announced his intention to seek the office of Mayor in March. The launch of the new website marks the next phase of his campaign, outlining his priorities for Cranbrook’s future, sharing his background and experience, and providing opportunities for residents to connect with the campaign, volunteer, and stay informed throughout the election.

“Cranbrook has always been home,” said Shypitka. “It’s where I built my career, raised my family, and dedicated my life to serving this community. As our city continues to grow, we need experienced leadership that understands the opportunities ahead and has the proven ability to deliver results.”

Shypitka brings one of the broadest backgrounds of any municipal candidate. His experience spans small business ownership, finance, real estate, Cranbrook City Council, the Regional District of East Kootenay, the East Kootenay Regional Hospital District, and representing the region as Member of the Legislative Assembly for Kootenay East.

Throughout his public service, Shypitka has worked collaboratively with municipal, regional, provincial, federal, and Indigenous governments to advocate for local priorities, secure investments, and build strong partnerships that benefit communities across the East Kootenay.

His campaign is built around six key pillars:

  • Public Safety – Supporting a safe, welcoming community through strong partnerships, proactive planning, and effective emergency preparedness.
  • Local Business & Economic Development – Creating the conditions for businesses to grow, attracting investment, supporting local entrepreneurs, and expanding employment opportunities.
  • Housing Growth & Infrastructure – Planning responsibly for growth by investing in roads, utilities, community facilities, and housing that meets the needs of current and future residents.
  • Accountable City Hall & Taxpayer Value – Restoring trust through transparent decision-making, fiscal responsibility, open communication, and ensuring taxpayers receive value for every dollar spent.
  • Civic Pride & Community Connection – Building a stronger sense of belonging by supporting neighbourhoods, volunteers, community organizations, recreation, arts, culture, and local events that bring people together.
  • Regional Leadership & Provincial Advocacy – Working collaboratively with neighbouring communities, regional partners, Indigenous governments, and senior levels of government to secure investment and advocate for Cranbrook’s priorities.

“My commitment is simple,” said Shypitka. “I’ll bring transparency to every decision, listen to residents, and ensure taxpayers receive value for every dollar the city spends. Together, we can build a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Cranbrook with leadership that is accountable, experienced, and focused on results.”

The campaign website features information about Shypitka’s experience, campaign priorities, news updates, and opportunities for residents to become involved in the campaign.

Residents are encouraged to visit tomshypitka.ca to learn more about Tom’s vision for Cranbrook and to follow campaign updates in the weeks ahead.
