Be a Tourist in Your Own Town a grand time
Hundreds of Cranbrook and area residents got to see their hometown in a different light last Saturday (June 4).
A host of city and nearby tourist attractions and businesses opened their doors for locals during Be a Tourist in Your Own Town event, organized by Cranbrook Tourism, and staged an afternoon of fun, education and entertainment.
Fort Steele Heritage Town was free for the hot and sunny afternoon, as was the always improving Cranbrook History Centre.
Elizabeth Lake Lodge’s mini golf was a hit with kids and parents, while The Studio Stage Door provided a colourful tour and history thanks to Cranbrook Community Theatre members. People got to check out the Prestige Rocky Mountain Resort’s lavish rail car rooms along with the period grandeur of Baker Hill Bed and Breakfast.
Experiences and discounts awaited at Fisher Peak Camping and Trailer Rentals, the Alley Gallery (Cranbrook District Arts Council), the Heid Out Resataurant and Brewhouse / Fisher Peak Brewing, High Country Sports and sweet joy of chocolate awaited at Sweet Gestures.
St. Eugene Golf Resort and Casino offered a glimpse of changes to its kitchen and restaurant, while the beautiful outside grounds offered spectacular views.
Mission Hills Golf Course reported they were run off their feet as locals seized the smoking good deal and hit the links on a glorious sunny spring day.
Farther afield, the Nip and Tuck Gold Mine, Kootenay Trout Hatchery and Clear Sky Meditation Centre also offered tours.
