The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) has announced its 2026 Electoral Area Volunteers of the Year.

“We recognize the meaningful difference volunteers make. It is our honour to celebrate them and their generous contributions through the annual Electoral Area Volunteer of the Year Awards,” said RDEK Board Chair Rob Gay.

This year’s award recipients are:

• Area A – Linda Hunter
• Area B – Joanne Gareau
• Area C – Jo-Anne Takala
• Area E – No recipient
• Area F – Raylene Oram
• Area G – John Hague

The volunteers will be recognized individually at public events over the coming weeks.

Recognition began with the Electoral Area C Volunteer of the Year being recognized May 4.

More details about those celebrations will be shared closer to the event dates.
