Celebrate World Sauna Day in Ta Ta Creek
Kamu Sauna invites you to step into the warmth and celebrate World Sauna Day with a welcoming forest-based sauna experience at Ilomaa Forest Farm on Sunday, April 27.
This community-based gathering celebrates the global rise of sauna culture and its deeply rooted Finnish origins, offering a chance to connect with others, nature, and yourself.
World Sauna Day is an international celebration that pays tribute to the centuries-old tradition of sauna—a practice that has provided physical, mental, and social well-being for generations. Recognized by UNESCO as part of Finland’s intangible cultural heritage, sauna is more than a hot room—it’s a way of life.
And it’s catching on. Around the world, interest in sauna is “gaining steam” as people seek out wellness experiences that foster relaxation, community, and deep restoration.
“There’s something powerful about gathering in a sauna space – it’s more than just heat and steam,” says Juho Pelkonen, Kamu Sauna founder. “I grew up in Finland and it’s been so awesome to see the sauna community that is building throughout the Kootenays. World Sauna Day is a chance for new folks to experience the magic of sauna and for enthusiasts to share that magic with others.”
Guests will enjoy access to two wood-fired saunas nestled in the forest, refreshing cold plunges, herbal tea tastings, fresh-baked croissants, and feel-good music. The experience blends authentic Finnish tradition with the beauty of ʔamakʔis Ktunaxa and the Rocky Mountains.
Tickets are $30 per person, and two time slots are available: 1–3 p.m. and 4–6 p.m.
All are welcome to attend. The address and detailed directions to the event will be provided upon booking.
