CRNs responding to COVID-19 emergency

During this COVID-19 emergency, the Community response networks (CRNs) across the province are finding ways to break the isolation and provide services, contact, meals, and other supports.

“I am so heartened to read of the projects THAT are supported by the BC CRN (BC Association of Community Response Networks).  Some examples include Revelstoke (grocery deliveries); Castlegar (meals delivered); Hope (phone tree in place); Vancouver’s West End (Virtual Tea Parties); and Nanaimo (decorated windows),” said BC CRN Executive Director Sherry Baker.

She goes on to encourage all 232 B.C. communities under the BC CRN umbrella to find ways to support their older and vulnerable residents during this time of isolation.  There are small grants and other supports available through their local CRN.

The BC Association of Community Response Networks is a provincial organization which is responsible for supporting a coordinated response to abuse, neglect and self-neglect of vulnerable adults.  It does this by supporting over 80 local Community Response Networks to work with their local agencies and service providers, ensuring that they work together and provide their services to those who need them most.

For further information go to the BC CRN website www.bccrns.ca.   Every community is listed there along with its contact information.
