Fifth Gran Fondo called off due to wildfire situation

Due to the current forest fire situation and projected weather forecast, wind and hot weather we regretfully announce that the fifth annual Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo, scheduled for Saturday, September 9, has been postponed until Saturday, September 8, 2018.

Your health and safety was our number one priority when making this difficult decision.

Our decision was based on consultation and review of the current forest fire conditions with the following agencies:

  Evacuation Alerts & Orders throughout the East Kootenay

  Closure of the NorthStar Rails-To-Trails

  Ministry of Forests

  The BlueSky Wildfire Smoke Forecasting System

Cyclist 2017 registration fees will be automatically deferred to the sixth annual Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo. To request a FULL REFUND please visit [email protected]. Your full refund will be credited to your credit card that was provided at the time of registration. A refund must be requested by Saturday, September 30, otherwise your registration will be non-refundable.

Kazoom Cycling Apparel will ship all pre-ordered jerseys and bib shorts at no cost.
The Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo is organized by the Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club as a non-profit event. All proceeds go back to the local community.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.

We look forward to having you join us in the beautiful East Kootenay on Saturday, September 8, 2018.

Glenn Dobie, Chair of the
 Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo Committee,

Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club
