Kimberley and Cranbrook host B.C. at successful games

Years of planning came down to successful games plans execution for about 900 volunteers and 2,200 athletes Sept. 11 to 15 during the Kimberley-Cranbrook 55+ BC Games.

The athletes came from all over British Columbia, representing 12 zones.

East Kootenay athletes (Zone Seven) finished third overall in the games, boasting a final medal count of 83 gold, 76 silver and 46 bronze – 205 overall.

Fraser Valley came out on top with 304 games medals, including 152 gold and Vancouver Island North finished second with 234 medals.

Kelowna will be hosting the 2019 55+ BC Games taking place September 10 – 14.

The following photo/video presentation showcases the opening and closing ceremonies held Sept. 12 and 15 at Cranbrook’s Western Financial Place and Kimberley Alpine Resort’s plaza.
