Las ChaChas returning for local events

By Louie Cupello

Las ChaChas from Sayulita, Mexico arrived in Kimberley on July 10 and played at the Kimberley Farmer’s Market on July 12.

They performed an acoustic set using borrowed instruments; the market goers ate it up.

On Friday, July 13 they played to an appreciative audience at Jimmy’s Pub in Creston. The crowd got to hear the full band experience.

The following night they were at The Royal on Baker Street in Nelson. They wrapped the first leg of their 2018 Kootenay Summer Tour in Winlaw at Mama Sita’s Cafe but not before watching the World Cup Final.

Being from soccer crazy Mexico they asked me before leaving for Creston “where could we watch the game on Sunday?”

This weekend Las ChaChas will be at The Elks in Kimberley on Friday, July 20, playing from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.; as well as during JulyFest in Coronation Park 2:30-3:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 21.

Las ChaChas will then head south to performing at Dancing in the Park at Cranbrook’s Rotary Park from 7:30 – 10 p.m. following Clayton & Joelle (pictured) who go on at 6 p.m.

They have a huge following so get there early to get a good spot.

Las ChaChas put on a helluva show; great vocal harmonies.

They’re so cute you just might wanna take them home. A big thank you to the board members, volunteers and sponsors of Fisher Peak Performing Artists Society for their continued support of live music in The Kootenays.

Last but not least to everyone who comes out to the events THANK YOU!
