Local fires remain under control
The three forest fires currently burning in the East Kootenay are all ‘under control,’ reports BC Wildfire Service today (August 13).
While the fires are noted as under control, the Stirton Road fire near Marysville has flared up from 2.93 hectares yesterday to four ha today, according to the Wildfire Service.
The Plateau Pit fire, discovered August 12 about 2.5 km southwest of Wycliffe Park Road and Shadow Mountain, has expanded from .01 ha to .03.
The Kiakho Lake fire west of JimSmith Lake, discovered August 10, is also under control at about .6 ha in scale.
All three fires are believed to be human-caused.
