Local teams riding series leads into tonight’s games

The Kimberley Dynamiters have the Fernie Ghostriders on the ropes and the underdog Columbia Valley Rockies have the Creston Valley Thunder Cats a bit shocked heading into games four of their Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) Eddie Mountain Division semi final series this evening (Feb. 27).

Kimberley’s potent offence has dominated the Ghostriders thus far, winning the first three games of the series 6-2; 8-2; and 5-2.

Game four is this evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Sparwood Leisure Centre.

The Rockies, meanwhile, have shown great resilience, bouncing back from a game one slapping (8-1) in Creston to win the next two 5-2 and 4-2.

Game four is 7:30 p.m. at Invermere’s Eddie Mountain Memorial Arena.

Games five, if necessary in the Nitros/Riders series, will be Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Kimberley Civic Centre.

Game five of the Rockies/Cats series is Thursday, March 1 at the Johnny Bucyk Arena in Creston at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific). Game six is Friday, March 2 in Invermere and game seven, if necessary, will be March 3 back in Creston.
