More snow expected overnight in region

Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting Ltd. this evening reports the weather event impacting the East Kootenay, which began Friday morning, is expected to continue overnight with an additional 10-15 cm throughout the region.

Approximately 27 cm of snow has already fallen in Sparwood/Fernie areas since last night, reports Environment Canada.

Mainroadā€™s meteorological service is predicting snowfall to dissipate Saturday afternoon.

Mainroad crews continue to plow and apply winter abrasives (sand) to roads as needed.

Motorists should use caution, drive to the conditions, and prepare for delays caused by the weather. Postponing plans to travel at this time is wise.

Drivers should check www.drivebc.caĀ before heading out.
