Ninth annual Starlite Campaign launched
East Kootenay Foundation for Health (EKFH) is excited to announce the launch of our ninth annual Starlite Campaign.
The EKFH Starlite campaign is our holiday fundraising drive running from Nov. 1 to Dec 31, where donations will help to light stars on top of the East Kootenay Regional Hospital. This year the Starlite Campaign will raise funds for the new permanent MRI at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
Currently the East Kootenay has access to the Mobile MRI unit for one week per month, sharing this unit with Trail and Penticton. The limited access to the mobile unit has meant long wait times and in many instances patient travel outside the region to access MRI services in Kelowna or Calgary.
Over the past eight years the Starlite Campaign has raised over $800,000 to improve the level of healthcare throughout the East Kootenay. Our goal this year is to light all the stars a top the regional hospital and in doing so, raise $150,000 towards the overall MRI: An Image of Health Campaign goal of $650,000.
We are thrilled to announce the lighting of the first small star by the Wasa Lions Club.
Lions Club President Terry Marvel said, “The club is proud and happy to make this donation to bring the MRI machine to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital and encourage others to help light a star for the MRI.”
To light a large star is $5,000 and a small star is $2,500. All donations of every size make a huge difference and will accumulate to light a “community star” to help us reach our goal.
