Nitros and Rockies clashing in division final

Brock Palmer leads the Nitros in scoring with two goals and nine assists in five games.

The Columbia Valley Rockies and Kimberley Dynamiters are set to face off in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) Eddie Mountain Division final starting this evening at 7:30 p.m. in the Kimberley Civic Centre.

The Nitros took care of the underdog Fernie Ghostriders four games to one and the underdog Rockies overcame the Creston Valley Thunder Cats four to two in the division semi finals.

Game two is tomorrow, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimberley. Games three and four are Friday, March 9 and Saturday, March 10 at Invermere’s Eddie Mountain Memorial Arena.  If necessary, games five through seven are: Monday, March 12 in Kimberley; Tuesday, March 13 in Invermere and Wednesday, March 14 in Kimberley. All games start at 7:30 p.m.

In other KIJHL playoff action, the two favourites from the Neil Murdoch Division, Nelson Leafs and Castlegar Rebels are squaring off in that final, also starting this evening, with the winners of both series destined to battle it out for the Kootenay Conference championship.

Big centre Mike Dyck leads the Rockies in scoring so far with three goals and four helpers in six games.

In Okanagan/Shuswap Conference action, the Osoyoos Coyotes and Kelowna Chiefs, the top two seeds in the Okanagan Division begin that final this evening in the Osoyoos Sun Bowl.

While the top seeded Revelstoke Grizzlies are taking on the third place 100 Mile House Wranglers in the Doug Birks Division final this evening at the Revelstoke Forum.
