Protocol for wearing uniforms and medals

Local resident Rod Duggan contacted e-KNOW with a request to help educate the public about the protocol for wearing uniforms and medals, with an eye on upcoming Remembrance Day ceremonies.

He supplied a link to the Veterans Affairs Canada webpage ‘Medals and decorations.’

Please peruse this website if you have any questions about protocol for wearing uniforms and medals.

For example, medals may only be worn by the veteran who received them.

“This is considered of such high importance that it is a criminal offense to wear military medals that someone else has earned,” Veteran Affairs notes.
