Provincial award for Cranbrook firm

Glacier Technical Services Ltd. of Cranbrook took the top award for Construction Management and Supervision at the 13th annual Deputy Minister’s Consulting Engineers Awards, for its exceptional work on the rehabilitation of the Porto Rico (by Ymir), Irishman Creek (west of Moyie) and Luxor Creek Bridges (north of Edgewater).

“Bridges play a very an important role in our highway infrastructure, and it is critical to keep them in a safe and reliable condition,” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone. “These three bridge rehabilitation projects were completed to a very high standard, coming in on time and under budget. We appreciate the professionalism and expertise that Glacier exhibited while carrying out these contracts.”

“Congratulations to the local Glacier Technical Services team for a job well done on these three bridge rehabilitation projects, especially with Luxor Creek, which is an important tributary of the Columbia River,” said Kootenay East MLA Bill Bennett. “I understand that the team did a great job at not only replacing the existing large culvert with a bridge, but improving the environment for fish habitat, bringing renewed life back to this section of Luxor Creek.”

The finalists in this category were WSP Construction Management Services for the Hwy 5 Tête-Jaune CNR Clearance Improvements, and McElhanney Consulting Services for the Highway 37 Powerline Creek Passing Lane project.
