RDEK advisory and planning commission seats open

Are you a resident of Electoral Area B including Grasmere, Elko, Jaffray or surrounding areas?
Are you a resident of Electoral Area C including Gold Creek, Moyie, Wardner, Wycliffe, Mayook or the surrounding areas? Are you interested in having input on what happens in your community?

Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) is looking for new members for the: Electoral Area B Advisory Planning Commission (APC) and the Electoral Area Advisory Commission (EAAC) and Electoral Area C Advisory Planning Commission (APC) and the Electoral Area Advisory Commission (EAAC).

As a member of one of the commissions you will have an opportunity to provide advice recommendations on: Development applications, such as rezoning and development variance permits;
Provincial referrals, such as tenure applications and road closure applications; Requests for funding through the Discretionary Grants-in-Aid Program; Recognizing Community Volunteers; and other matters that affect the specific Electoral Area (either Area B or Area C).

Committee members are paid for personal vehicle travel between their place of residence and the location of a commission meeting, at a rate established by RDEK board policy.

Commissions meet once per month and commission members are reimbursed.

Any person, except a corporation, residing or owning property within the Electoral Area may be appointed to a commission.

At least two-thirds of a Commission must be residents of the Electoral Area. Appointments are made by the RDEK Board of Directors. Appointees are members of both the APC and EAAC.
