Regional Remembrance Day ceremonies
There are a number of Remembrance Day ceremonies being observed throughout the East Kootenay Saturday, Nov. 11.
Ceremony taking place at the Civic Centre at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony and the placement of wreaths at the cenotaph will be followed by a community luncheon, hosted by the Civic Centre.
Cranbrook
The annual Remembrance Day parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday November 11, beginning outside the Byng Hotel. The parade will proceed down 10th Avenue South toward Rotary Park, with the service at the cenotaph beginning at 11 a.m.
Remembrance Day events in Edgewater begin at 3:45 p.m. with a parade and conclude at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 199 Hall. The entire community is invited to enjoy a Roast Beef Dinner at the hall at 5:30 p.m.
Elkford
Remembrance Day Cenotaph Ceremony at the District of Elkford Municipal Office at 11 a.m. Annual service in partnership with the Royal Canadian Legion.
Fernie
Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 36 will lead a parade and service to the Fernie Cenotaph. All welcome.
10:40 a.m.: Parade departs from the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #36, 561 1st Ave, to the Cenotaph at The Fernie Courthouse.
10:55 a.m.: Cenotaph Service.
11 a.m.: Two minute silence.
11:45 a.m.: Parade reforms and returns to the Legion for the Service of Remembrance.
Invermere
Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 71 is holding its annual procession from the Legion on 13th Street to Cenotaph Park, followed by a ceremony and laying of wreaths. The procession gets underway at 10:30 a.m.
Kimberley
Kimberley Veteran Memorial Park.
10:20 a.m. Starting with the Parade fall-in, moving from Howard Street to the gathering at the cenotaph.
Sparwood
Remembrance Day service and parade. Starting at the Senior Citizen’s Drop-In Centre at 10 a.m. with the parade proceeding to the cenotaph at approximately 10:40 a.m.
